It never ceases to amaze and humble me to discover how many talented and inspiring people there are in the world. I’m so thankful for the time that we live in, that we can share our dreams and our ideas with anyone in the world and be able to create a community across the boundaries of distance.
This thought occurred to me when I thought about how best to introduce Michaela from Bliss!, who currently resides in Helsinki. Michaela is fairly new to the blogging scene, but already has acquired quite a following, and it’s not surprising given her eye for pretty things and her penchant for design (check out her super cute freebies).
Here’s a little glimpse into Michaela’s world:
1. The beginning of spring
After a long winter that can last from October until mid-April here up north, I just love the beginning of spring. Seeing the first leaves grow on trees after so many months of seeing nothing but white, greys and blues, is pure bliss (oh yes!). And everybody seems affected by it too around here. The usually so introvert, almost grumpy Finns suddenly are cheerful and social, laugh loudly on the streets. It’s so magical. And i can’t wait for it (still freezing cold here, although the snow is slowly melting)!

2. My little daughter
She is such a personality – can go from sunshine to being a little angry monster in within seconds. I love her to bits and so many moments with her make me swoon. I never thought that motherhood could be so fulfilling and rewarding. She’s changed my life completely and i’m so thankful to have such a wonderful little girl.

3. Marimekko dinnerware
I swoooon over these fun plates, bowls and cups. Sadly, I don’t have the budget for buying an entire set and we’re only using a few pieces as serving dishes at the moment.

4. Music
Obviously. Music makes every moment of my life so much better and has helped through a lot of difficult times. I still get song-crushes like i did when i was a teenager. You know, those songs that you can play on repeat for hours – and for days in a row. Usually my song-crushes are some indie ones, but it can also be some Top 40 song or even a piece of Glee (to the annoyance of my husband). For many months now my number 1 music crush has been the entire High Violet album of The National – i never get tired of it.

5. Typography
It might be a geeky thing to swoon about, but i just really appreciate nice fonts and the way different fonts go together.

6. Everything made of wood
Apart from the obvious – wooden furniture – i love little jewelry pieces made from wood, wooden crockery, cute wooden bowls (like my apple one in the picture), anything.

7. Love
This is a very obvious one, but i had to include it in my list. I’m not talking about just the romantic love, but the general love for life and other beings. The love that shows in little acts of generosity or kindness. In a smile or a nice word. We should all try to show more love to everyone around us.

8. Walking around Dublin with a to-go cup of café moccha from Butler’s chocolate
There’s almost no better feeling in the world… I loved Dublin from the first moment I ever visited it. I immediately felt like I’m home. People are so friendly and open and the city offers so many different places to shop, to go out and to just be. The best moment of a day in Dublin is the cup of Moccha from Butler’s chocolate. Divine! And it doesn’t even matter that I can never finish the cup because the moccha is so very rich, it could substitute two meals.

9. Colors
Like with music, I get color-crushes, too. Right now i love everything coral. Wouldn’t it be great to have a coral colored wall in your home? I probably would want to re-paint it a new color i’m crushing on after a few months, but who cares?

10. Everything else
When i started making this list, I thought it would be difficult to think of 10 different things – oh dear, how i was wrong! Of all the things still on my list, i want to mention these:
- all things vintage
- photography (especially emotional portraits)
- lush, wild flower arrangements
- donut buffets!

Michaela’s swoon list makes me want to hop on a plane to Europe immediately and go grab a cup of moccha with her. I think we would have a wild time chatting about swoon-worthy things and the love of life! There is so much beauty, all we have to do is look
.

Ha! One can really notice that I got interrupted by Ella many times while writing this.
Thanks for the feature, Ann! Looking forward to more of these!
i think we must be kindred spirits, and can’t wait til she sees my swoon list too! happy to see someone going beyond weddings for the swoon list
WHAT a roundup! i love this style!
Oh Jacin, now I am happy too! My list seemed so out of place – I put this together quite a while ago and only afterwards saw all the other so very wedding-detail focused ones being posted.
Can’t wait to see yours!
Hi Michaela – I love your swoon-worthy eclectic collection! I have to agree with your choice of Butler’s moccha coffee as a coffee drinking Dubliner
