Do Bridesmaid Dresses Have to Match?

{jcrew}

Bridesmaid dresses have a bad rep. They’re inevitably made of cheap satin or some stiff fabric that rarely look flattering. And for some reason, the dress always looks like a bridesmaid dress so you can’t ever where it again to another occasion. What’s more ridiculous: these simple, strapless satin dresses cost hundreds of dollars and never fit right so you have to dish out additional cash to tailor them.

A tip: avoid buying bridesmaid dresses from a bridal store. They’re always a rip off. The biggest thing they profit from is the matching color and style. But if you do a little early shopping, you can easily find matching dresses for a much better price.

Better yet, let go of the notion that bridesmaid dresses have to match and you can find even better deals. Personally, I think non-matching bridesmaid dresses look a lot cuter. Choose a color you like and let your bridesmaids pick their own style. If you go this route though, do choose a color that’s in season or basic black, blue, or neutral tones. Your bridesmaid would definitely appreciate being able to pick their own dress and style!

Some great places to look for cute bridesmaid dresses under $100 are Ruche, ModCloth, and BlueFly. Below are my latest finds from these stores. All dresses are under $100. I really loooove the black ruffle and lace dresses. So chic!

    Totally agree with this! I think it looks better for the bridesmaids not to match, as they can then pick a style they will look good and feel confident in. Very cute pics! I love the navy blue options. I want to be a bridesmaid in that wedding!

    If I only I can have another wedding…haha j/k. Please don't take that seriously, god. I think playing with matching textures and details like the bow or ruffles and lace is so much more fun.
