I’m looking forward to seeing all of the beautiful fall weddings with its deep, rich colors, but before we officially welcome fall, let’s say goodbye to summer with some of my favorite wedding details from this past season’s weddings.

Puppy Love!

Archie, Our French Bulldog Ring Bearer{photo by Lost and Found Photography}

One of the things that I’m a complete sucker for is an adorable dog in weddings. They can’t help but put a smile on your face when you see them in a little bowtie and soaking in all of the attention. For my own wedding, I of course had to include our little French bulldog, Archie (above). I have to admit, I’m obsessed over our silly little dog. My husband and I got him together when he was just a puppy and we instantly fell in love with his sweet and playful personality. We took him wherever we went and he became an important part of our little family. So for our wedding there was no doubt that he would be going to Palm Springs with us, and in our ceremony he would be our ring bearer. We didn’t actually trust him to carry the rings, but he did walk down the aisle and we did dress him up in a little bowtie and cuffs (I couldn’t help myself!).

Archie was a hit with our guests! He looked adorable and dapper in his formal wear. I’m glad he was the very first one to walk down the aisle and not right before me, or that little guy would have stolen my spotlight!

We had so much fun including Archie in our wedding day, so I love when other couples show the same love for their pets. Looking through some of the photographers on Love Olio, I found some great wedding and engagement photos where couples included their adorable pets. These are some of my favorites:

Greetings Swoon Readers!

{photo by Lost and Found Photography}

Hi Swoon Readers,

My name is Jennette and I am the newest member of the Love Olio team!

I recently married the love of my life and I’m excited to share my experience planning our Palm Springs wedding. With so much to think about, organize, budget for and make decisions on; at times planning a wedding can be very hectic and overwhelming. I found it difficult balancing the part-time job of planning a wedding with my regular full-time day job that required a lot of traveling and long hours. Not to mention trying to find time to hit the gym so I could look my best in my wedding dress. However, as stressful as it was trying to keep my life in order, I really enjoyed coordinating all of the details that would truly represent us as a couple on our wedding day.  All the hard work planning and adding those details to infuse our personality into our wedding proved to be completely worth it. Our wedding day was exactly the way we wanted it and an unforgettable event. While it might have been easier, I am so glad that we didn’t go with a cookie-cutter wedding that didn’t fit our style.

I want all brides to have a wedding that is uniquely theirs and truly represents them as a couple. I know it can be difficult to stay inspired under the craziness of planning a wedding, but that is what Swoon is for and I’m looking forward to sharing with you the latest in wedding trends, inspirational stories, creative ideas and all that is Swoon-worthy.

Also, please reach out to us with any wedding questions, problems you are dealing with or if you just need a quick sanity check. Sometimes it helps to get an outside opinion. We’d be happy to give you our advice, share our personal experiences and opinions, and poll readers or vendors we’re connected with. We would love to help in any way we can.

Happy Planning!

Do or Don’t: Bridal Jumpsuit

white wedding jumpsuit

In the land of tulle, lace and ruffles, Victor and Rolf’s sleek and minimalist 2014 bridal collection is rather refreshing. All 6 pieces of the innovative bridal collection are very eye-catching, but this ivory crepe jumpsuit really caught me off guard. You can’t get more untraditional than a jumpsuit! What do you think? Yay or nay?

What It’s Like To Be A Mother

Maybe my maternity instincts are kicking in but I find these pictures of famous moms from The Glow incredibly swoon-worthy!

I love the actual “glow” in all the photographs and they are totally inspiring me to go shoot a bunch of families in their homes right now. Its so sweet and intimate and um, makes me want kids! But then my real mom friends brought me back to reality. Apparently, actual motherhood doesn’t usually look like this, unless you happen to be a model or stylist, which all these women are.

Do you have kids and is motherhood uber glowy and magical or is it no sleep and never being clean again?

Texas Vintage Chic Wedding

Michelle’s & Eric’s sweet vintage chic wedding in Austin, Texas is chock full of gorgeous DIY details and I’m so glad to be able to share this on Swoon today!

According to Eric, the wedding was inspired by Mumford & Sons! You can totally see that in the folksy vibe of this wedding. From the tumbleweed lights to the 10-foot handmade wooden cross to the super realistic toolbox wedding cake to the marshmallow garlands (too cute!), it’s plain to see this wedding was truly a labor of love.

From the bride:
“Burlap, mason jars, sand, candles, vintage lace, wood, succulents, potted plants, picture frames, and combined talents from family & friends, all came together to make our wedding day more beautiful then we could ever have imagined.

My wonderful husband built the 10ft cross with wood he found at a vintage shop in North Austin to put as the backdrop of our wedding ceremony. We now have it on our balcony at home.

Vuka, a vintage warehouse venue, is located in downtown Austin, Texas near the famous South Congress Avenue which set the stage for our wedding theme as we used the furniture and decorations that were inside as well as the fire pit outside for our guests to make smores!

We had a marshmallows hanging from a tree outside which made it give a softer look. My husband liked to tell our friends that our wedding theme was Mumford & Sons. We combined boots, our home Austin, and our favorite treats to contribute to our special day.

Our wonderful community of family & friends was what made it such a joyous celebration. Even one of my best friends teaching overseas was able to Skype in as one of my bridesmaids. She was able to see our entire wedding ceremony on a friend’s phone and you can see in a few of the pictures me talking with her :) .

My husband’s cake was a tool box cake and no one believed it was a real cake. It was very impressive from Jennifer Gonzalez at the Frosted House. I hope you enjoy looking at our our pictures! A huge thank you to all of our vendors (listed below) that made it all possible!”

Aisle Style: Is Black the New White?

{image by Ciara Richardson}

We’ve all been told black is a big “no no” for weddings, but is it?

Vera Wang just recently launched her Spring 2014 bridal collection featuring a gorgeous gamut of black and white wedding dresses.

And a quick flash back to weddings from previous years show a variety of gorgeous takes on black :

Remember this gorgeous Jose Villa and Once Wed collaboration? When I saw that Romona Keveza black wedding dress on Emily, I was instantly sold on black.

Oh and of course, there was this whole black and white French inspired style shoot, complete with black gloves, veil, and umbrella…stunning.

Adoring the big black sash on this bride. It’s just the right balance to the groom’s black tie and suspenders.

This bold Oscar de La Renta black and white striped wedding dress is kind of blowing my mind! Holy cow.

Loving this exquisite black lace and white tulle combo…which worked surprisingly well with the almond orchard.

So, what’s the verdict? Is black the new white?
